My sister works in Microsoft Devices and her org/team was badly impacted on Mar 6. Do you think Devices will be hit again on Mar 22? #layoff #microsoft
Where in CA or WA ?
Is there another layoff happening on 22nd March?
Yes. That’s what internal blind is saying. Supposed to be managers this round.
Can you point to the thread that says that? I couldnt find any...from my understanding they are done with majority of it.
This was the second round already 😔
I know a team within Microsoft that was impacted in all 3 rounds. So definitely possible. In fact, I would say with higher probability. It’s means that the org has been identified to have inefficiencies. And it’s super hard to cut all the inefficiencies at one go. Also, considering that tech hiring is paused - companies are in a position to stretch this out. They are less worried about attrition, to the point that attrition will probably help these companies out.
Man we got whacked hard Jan 17th. Still cutting?
Maybe not on March 22nd. But potentially hit again in another future round. Some orgs that were hit January, were hit again in March. Certain orgs have been the target of 2+ rounds of layoffs
March 22nd might just mainly be centered on Managers, role elimination by either layoffs or IC conversion. Hard to see M2 converting because they would level pretty high but lacking the expertise and technical experience.
What level is the M2? Director? VP? CVP?
Devices org has been hit more than twice. Twice since 2023, and once in October 2022. From rumors, I hear this will be more of a reorg round for Devices rather than a layoff round.
