I've been applying for Software Engineer 2 positions at Microsoft for a while now, around 20 applications with referrals, but they're all still in the review stage. Is Microsoft's hiring process typically slow? Some folks who've scored interviews suggested reaching out to managers or team members directly and getting calls in current market is mostly luck, but I'm hesitant about cold emailing. . Do you think this approach could help? I've got over 4 years of experience in Full Stack, Backend, and Cloud Engineering, with proficiency in AWS and Azure. I completed my Masters in December 2022. I have been preparing for leetcode and completed more than 300 problems and done some system design too. Also if there is any position in your team kindly let me know, I can share my resume. Thanks a lot. Any advice would be appreciated! Current TC: $130K in Durham. #microsoft #microsoftcareers #microsofthiring
Referrals don’t mean shit unfortunately. That being said, it’s a long process. I also put in around 20-30 applications and I think start to finish was about five months from when I applied to when I actually started
Wow. That's a long process. Btw is your team hiring? I can share my resume and if suppose I seem a good candidate can you connect me with a recruiter. I have been trying a lot using linkedin. Hoping for the best.
We are not, sorry!
OP, what is your major in B.S or other degrees?
BS is Electronics and Telecommunications. Master of Science in Computer Science 4 YOE in Software development field.

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Their process is opaque and luck based. Referrals don’t mean shit.
I also feel same now. So thinking of reaching out to people at Microsoft who are hiring. Hopefully I will be successful. Are you also currently interviewing?
I would love to interview, except I’m not getting call backs. The market is fine for 5+ yoe and senior engineers and above, but I’m not there yet. The problem with your approach is I’ve seen plenty of managers working at Microsoft post on LinkedIn that they are hiring. But after you reach out to them it’s total crickets. They don’t bother to reply to your message. I haven’t had any luck doing that, but maybe yours are better.
