Hi, I lost my job due to a layoff. My background is primarily in Data Analytics. I was recently offered a contract Technical Program Manager position @ Microsoft. TC 110k. The contract is for 18 months. Analytics has become very redundant now. I have 5 plus years of experience working as a Data Analyst. My question is if the contract TPM a good thing to go for at Microsoft? I know converting contract to FTE is a long shot. I am on H1-B visa so time is of the essence in finding my next role. I am being interviewed by some other companies for core analytics roles but haven’t received any offer yet except for this TPM position. Thinking if I should take up this Microsoft role or not? Has anyone been with Microsoft on a TPM contract? How did that go? Any insights will be appreciated. TIA #microsoft #tpm #suggestions

Hi, can I dm for a MSFT referral?
Can you share the offer breakdown? Asking for a friend.
That’s a really terrible offer. 110k?! Unacceptable. Even if you were converted full time you’d make shit money because you set your baseline so low

Personally I would take it, there is a lot of impacted talent in the market who would snap up that contract in a heartbeat. Take it on, prove yourself, and get a foot in the door for a future FTE opportunity when the market turns, which it will do eventually.
