Hey Folks, I am still remote due to Pandemic, and I use Microsoft Teams for my main communication during the work day. I love it, but hate that after 5min, it puts me in an "away" status. No, I don't always sit at my desk and stare at my computer all day. Sometimes I might go for a walk if it's nice out, or other times I might be taking a nap. Whatever I'm doing, the point is I get my work done. Some people in particular, **ahem** my superior, likes to make sure everyone is either busy in a meeting, or just sitting at their desk ready to answer him if he asks what they are doing. Any suggestions on this? An option that works for me is creating a teams meeting invite, and myself will join. That way, it will look like i'm in a meeting. LOL and If I feel really bugged out, I'll just start sharing my screen too so that he thinks I'm presenting :P #tips #remotework #wfh
Just don't lock your computer
Buddy problem is not with the Teams here. Problem is with your manager. Find a new team or soon your manager will start micro managing you.
Get a program called Caffeine, no install and works perfectly.
+1, works perfectly
Play a 10 hr youtube video lol
You can buy a mouse jiggler from amazon.
I use the app called Move Mouse from windows store. It is free. It keeps moving the mouse when i am not using the computer. I switch my status to busy when I don’t want to be bothered during the day and I switch to away in the evening.
I thought Microsoft had best WLB and what not. So it’s pretty much the same as Amazon then, just isn’t popularized as much. Have been reading a few stories about micromanaging managers, poor wlb etc
super easy - just open a notepad and put something heavy on your space bar. Or just put something heavy on the right click button.
I was concerned about IT somehow would monitor if I install a 3rd party app too keep active status. Therefore I bought this on Amazon which will literally move your mouse periodly. So far works great https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MV99RNV/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_9D4HDGQET9QWKRYAXEKP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You have to create an invite. Teams doesn’t have a way to prevent you from showing away.
