Microsoft offer. Is it worth the jump?
Yoe: 12. Got an offer from Microsoft. But they downleveled to L63. Ofcourse the offer of no where close currently pay at DD or any of the previous offers I have had. Is it still worth it to chase MS? MS stock is a rocketship. MS would also have me move all the way to Washington from New York. Wish isn’t too bad. Coz have been thinking about moving to the west coast where everyone has been making crazy salaries. MS offer: 250k (180k base, 70k rsu per year) DD offer: 350k
Be careful on the fine print in the RSUs- they vest quarterly over a five year period. Any sign on bonus and stock? Also the 70k quoted is only if you exceed expectations. Midpoint for annual grant at 63 and 180 is lower than that.
I read the 70k as their signon stock divided yearly until vest
I remembered the time when I was trying to explain to the MSFT recruiter that their offer is 100k less per year than my current job. It was awkward…

What's the breakdown for DD? Is it all stock? You can't use the expected future capital gains in your decision. The expected change in any stock is 0%. The reason is that if MS is expected to do really well then this fact is included in the price already.
MS stock ‘was’ a rocket-ship for the last 10 years. I would bet DD has much better growth potential at current price.
DD is 220k base and the rest stock. MS stock is at 350$ right now. All that from 250$ last year. Isn’t accepting the measly stock grant from MS and the down level worth the potential upside in stock? That is what I am looking at deciding.
This is a stupid thought process. Why didn't you buy Microsoft stock then? Why move at ATH when you can just buy the stock now or buy call options?
