How long does it typically take for Microsoft HR to reach out with possible start dates? My background check came back clean with all green flags almost a month and a half ago, following which immigration took over and did what they had to do. It has been almost 4 days since I got an email from immigration, with the HR cc'd, that I have been cleared for onboarding, but still nothing from the HR. My hiring manager has been super supportive so far helping expedite the immigration process, but I am now stuck at what seems like the final step. Is this normal? I wrote to HR a couple of days back asking where things stand and haven't got a response, I have an option of escalating, should I be escalating this or wait a little longer?
Also just take into account that HR is inundated right now - and this is true in a lot of companies. Part of it is due to the fact that you're probably going to be paid a lot better than people already here, and HR is scrambling to figure out how to make it slightly more equitable so existing people don't just jump ship and come back in a year. Tldr there's a little more than meets the eye going on with HR
That hr division would be different than onboarding, no?
Tbh, with some interactions with HR in the past 2 years, it leaves me wondering. I know that they are drawn thin everywhere.
Tc or gtfo
Update: So I escalated and HR responded that they are "validating" certain things - whatever that means - and that they are sorry the delay and will get back to me with the next steps as soon as possible. I have absolutely nothing to hide, but I am super anxious as to what they could be "validating" at this point given the onboarding process has been going on for a month and a half - I have provided every document they have asked for so far and my background check came back absolutely clean. Could they realistically rescind an offer after all this for any reason or am I being really paranoid?
Any update OP? I am in a similar situation and also paranoid

You still need to do I-9 which will depend on your luck if you can get an agent. This could take 1-2 days or even weeks. After I-9 is done you can fix a start date. Escalate AskHR mail to get I-9 thing going.
Thanks, this is news to me. I have done I-9s on my first day in my previous jobs, is that not how it works at Microsoft? Could you please throw some light on "getting an agent"?
Microsoft uses equifax for this part. You get request from equifax to complete part 1 and then for part 2 they will find an agent near you who can do the verification in person. Locating this agent can take some time.
