Currently have the following offers as new grad; M's deadline coming up tomorrow. Microsoft (Redmond, team: C+T Outlook) Base: 110,000 Stock: 120,000 (3.5 years vesting) Sign-on: 50,000 (split over two years, after negotiation) Annual bonus: ~10% Bloomberg (NYC, team tbd after training) Base: 145,000 Sign-on: 30,000 (haven't negotiated yet) Annual bonus: 20,000 I'm leaning slightly towards Bloomberg due to location (not into nightlife but do prefer city living, plus closer to family) and their team matching process (hoping to gain more C++ experience), but not sure how they otherwise compare. Appreciate any thoughts! #bloomberg #microsoft
You’re young. Seems like you’re leaning towards Bloomberg and NYC. I’d go with where your heart wants. NYC is fun to live in. Lol you’ll have plenty of time to settle-down into the suburbs of Redmond.
NYC>Seattle, MSFT>Bloomberg. I would choose to be in Bloomberg because of NYC alone.
Ditto
Def join C+T Outlook! Leaders very smart, culture super chill, and a LOT of growth ahead. All my friends are in NYC but I joined the Outlook team instead on a gut feeling and it’s been amazing! You will see when you join :)
Thanks a lot for commenting! Would you say career progression on the team is faster/slower than or similar to other high growth groups at Microsoft like Azure?
I'd go with Bloomberg mainly because of NYC. While to some Microsoft might look better on a resume Bloomberg is no slouch. They are known to have solid engineers, good pay, and decent wlb. They have a good reputation in NYC. If you're leaning towards NY I'd recommend trying it out.
team?
Don't know for Bloomberg since it's determined during new hire training; Outlook for Microsoft
if you want to learn c++ then bbg.
NYC, NYC, NYC
Haha this doesn’t feel biased at all
Bloomberg worst company in existence
is this from personal experience?
I would choose Bloomberg simply cause NYC > Redmond. Plus, once you are at Bloomberg or Microsoft, you can get interviews almost anywhere anyways.
