Microsoft vs Doordash

I have been working at Microsoft for the past two years. Last year, I got promoted to L61, and I work for one of the biggest Microsoft products (probably very few chances of any layoff in my org) TC: 160k at Microsoft. Just got an offer for Doordash for E4 with TC: 280K. Doordash's TC is much higher, but the WLB at Microsoft and my team is very good. Any suggestions on what should I do?

Microsoft is on a upwards trajectory. Your stocks might be worth a lot soon!

Agreed. The new stocks that i'll be assigned will have a high purchase price anyway. Assuming MSFT touches 450$, i won't make as much as DD offers with my current unvested stocks.

You’re underpaid at Microsoft. I’d recommend jumping to DoorDash and if it sucks boomerang back to Microsoft after a year. When I left Microsoft at L60 my base was 132k.

Man have you been with msft since the start?

Microsoft spoiledev Feb 19

Depends on risk appetite and whether WLB is worth it for you. Doordash base is higher than your tc. 100K difference is kind of a lot to ignore.

How are you making only 156k as L61?

Microsoft blah4488 OP Feb 20

Don't know... started at 128 base in 2022 as L60, missed out on any raise in 2022, and got only 5% raise on promotion to L61.

"WLB at Microsoft and my team is very good" - you already got top most important and hardest things to get in corp setup. Don't leave just for bigger TC unless you have some tough financial circumstances to be taken care off.

Leave on good terms, take the higher TC.

Congrats on the offer. I think you should take Doordash. How was the interview process? How many LC hards?

Did you negotiate Doordash for a sign-on? Have they stopped giving sign-on bonuses?
