If Microsoft gets a search engine integrated with GPT it will maul Google search in terms of ease of access. We no longer need 6 ads and sponsored links before any relevant data shows up. It will trigger a downward spiral on the effective cost of search in terms of time and additional revenue to sellers and by extention middlemen like Google to near 0. #search #chatgpt #google Edit: Few good discussions. My view is Google knew what they have will significantly cannibalize search revenue. I think they have crippled Google assistant intentionally since they cannot put ads in the audio stream and want to drive more searches to mobile search. This is in some credit to amazon alexa which prevented them from becoming dominant in assistants. Also all ads and search revenues will get affected since only thing ChatGpt needs is Compute and power which is tending to 0 in the future. As of now we all pay 40 percent higher prices due to ads on whatever we buy online.
Now ChatGPT integrated with Bing, how about that!
ChatGpt will end up like Bingš
Whether it's Bing or not is arguable. Benefits are existing search infra. Con is it's mutually assured distruction of revenue. But the gates are anyhow open, search and ads are fundamentally disrupted forever. The big story is the general public knows it, not just the VPs at Google. The cash cow is dead.
Ok.
Watch your GOOG lots. Does not help to hedge on the down side for you.
We have heard this story. Remember when bing was going to ākillā google search ? Lol. Who uses bing now a days ? Let me help you Google that :)
I foresee many lawsuits with a productionized ChatGPT in the immediate future
OpenAI is no longer not for profit organization. Microsoft has legally changed it's definition to make profit.
OP, you can try interviewing again after 6 months.
The only time I did was in 2005 when it was worth joining Google
Explain how to monetize ChatGPT. If it isnāt super massive scale and frictionless then it wonāt impact google.
Keywords still work
In developing markets, Google's penetration is pretty deep. A lot of people there think of Google being synonymous to the internet. So it's unlikely that Google will go down so easily
This is true for the majority of Americans, too.
Once end users can get actual results without ads and paying 40 percent more in price of goods as a result, search and ads as we know it is over. Google no longer has the magic sauce
