Memo from Compass CEO to leadership team, according to Business Insider LT, The real estate market is challenging right now and will likely stay that way for the next few quarters at least. This puts pressure on us, as company leaders, to do all we can to help our company get through this rough patch. And we must get through this rough patch. We owe it to our 3,000+ fellow employees and their families and our 30,000 agents and their families and clients to get through this. And we will. The way we get through this is together. Every employee needs to do their share and every manager needs to ensure that every employee is doing their share. If we all work hard, together, we will thrive regardless of market conditions. So let's do it. The time for leadership is now. If you know you have team members who are poor performers, who are chronically absent without being on an approved leave or approved FTO, who turn in work late, who turn in bad work or worse don't turn in work at all, it's on you as their manager to move them out. Compass needs you to know your employees and their work habits and results. That's part of your job as a manager. If you have an employee who isn't doing the work you expect and you don't know what to do next, we can help. Bring the issue to your managers attention, or to P&C's attention. They will help. If someone is "quietly quitting," that is on their manager as much as it is on the employee. If you see evidence that someone doesn't want to stay at Compass and help us weather this storm, say something. To put a fine point on it, it's your responsibility to help your employees perform at their highest potential — even in tough times. It's also your responsibility to manage out employees who can't, or aren't, performing at that level. If you don't, you are not performing. I hold myself and my leadership team to this same standard. So let's get it done. I have asked my team to schedule time with each of their direct reports to formally have a conversation to ask them to confirm that they are recommitting to bounce back with passion in this next phase with Compass. I would like you to do the same with your teams. Everyone in senior leadership is here to help as are P&C and Legal. Let us know what needs to be done. https://www.businessinsider.com/compass-ceo-robert-reffkin-memo-managers-poor-performers-cost-cutting-2022-12 #tech #realestate #Compass #housing #layoffs #pip #performance
Yikes
Telling employees to rat each other out. What high-minded leadership…
Telling managers to assess their DR’s who aren’t pulling their fair share of the work isn’t “ratting each other out”. Why should people be allowed to coast or “quiet quit” while the rest of us are actively invested in the success of our team and company?
Those assessments aren’t worth shit and you know it. Almost every performance review I’ve ever seen has been driven by some managers highly subjective “assessment” of performance.
Elon set an example. Now other companies are following to become similar to the companies in developing countries. 996 is coming in America.
Managers: "We've done the stack ranking like you said, and it turns out that you, Robert Reffkin, were ranked at the very bottom. I'm sorry, but we'll have to let you go."

What is this, the fifth layoff in two years?
Current employee here. Every time I think morale has reached rock bottom, they keep finding new and innovative methods of excavation. It’s been a rough year.
Couldn’t agree more. Join Compass is the biggest mistake in my 10+ year career.
a place already on fire gets even more kerosene
RR should put himself on PIP first after leading CompASS to a 90% stock price drop. Though hilariously he already did punish himself by buying millions worth at $18/share.
No he won’t. He is enjoying the agent party everyday. Take a look at his LinkedIn feed :)
