Dunno if you all saw this, but within a couple hours 2 different highly trending posts linking to major opinion pieces critical of the firing were flagged and removed from results. So far no similar action seems to have taken place toward any posts supportive of Google's decision.
Hacker news mods aren't rich powerful people; they just don't want their site to be the place where topics that generate trolls and that kind of controversy are discussed. Sheesh - and I agree with the essay also.
There are so many discussion about tech workplace that are encouraged there. It's practically the reason the community exists. And if you think that the average HN mod isn't probably a very rich person who is out of touch with the common community member, I disagree.
Right, so you mean to tell me, that you think moderating some tech news site pays better than Uber or Microsoft? Just to make sure I am understanding your premise clearly.
HN isn't liberal or conservative censorship, it's twats with their heads stuff up their asses because they love the smell of their own farts so much.
Does hacker news claim to be an objective need source? They have the right to post what they want.
It claims to be a place for free discourse about tech and the industry. Sure anyone "can" limit speech on their platform but they mist come with terms that people assume when you make a social platform that you allow free speech. Most posts on HN are respectful and most users I've encountered are as well. One post shouldn't change the principles
Flagging is done by users on HN, not mods afaik.
Whoever thinks this is censorship is really stupid. These were removed coz me and along with other users flagged these posts, that's because we were afraid HN would turn into Blind with fucking mofos like you talking shit like you just did when you posted this post. Get over it man, no one cares about JD anymore. Get a life .
Thanks supreme leader! Wouldn't want anybody to actually see true stories! How great do you think of yourself to decide for everybody that a New York Times editor isn't news worthy? It may be allowed by HN's dumb policy but it's just stupid and only adds fuel to the fire. Seriously you are the dumb one. Silencing behavior like yours is exactly the kind of oppressive force that people react to by electing Trump. You should go back and get a kindergarten education where they teach you about letting other people talk and not interrupting.
After reading your immature response, I'm pretty confident that I did good flagging it. Like I said, get a life and this is the last reply you are going to get from me on this topic. You can continue to throw tantrums like a fucking teen.
There were some large discussions on HN about the memo. The overall tone was in agreement or support of it and JD. There doesn't need to be a discussion on every article written about it and so I'm glad these were flagged for removal.
Seriously where do you all get the instinct to socially engineer other people? Why do you think you know "there doesn't need to be any more discussion"? Just fuck off, and let people talk to their hearts content. Stop socially engineering people.
Sounds like you can continue your discussion elsewhere, then!
