Any body here from Morgan Stanley - They reached out about a Executive Director in the analytics / data space. Wanted to get a sense of how the work culture is? In terms of reporting do Directors report to Executive Director ? Heard they recently acquired ETrade. Is there a lot of reorg going on ? What could be an expected comp range? Don’t think you’ll get the same TC here for that level and job .. where are you currently ?
ED can report to ED, just depends on the makeup of the team.
Well if you are coming from tech companies … stay away … TC will definitely be lower and bureaucracy here is high … so slow innovation and execution
Thank you this is extremely helpful. I am in a small quant fund. Was thinking maybe there would be more scope for innovation and growth at MS. But seems like that is not the case.
I was an ED with MS for many years. Good luck getting anywhere close to your current TC. Even if you do, you will be in the top of the list for yearly firing rounds.
You already have quite a high TC. I don’t think you will get anything close to this. EDs typically report to MDs or other senior EDs. Work culture at that level - expect heavy politics. If you can navigate that then the work content should be good.
Not accurate .. there can be multiple levels of ED reporting to EDs. I have first hand experience with EDs reporting into me. Also depending on the team, I had extremely good experience, less politics and quite a large area of influence. Overall company is good, but very low TC. You would get stuck in managing razor thin budgets, most work will be moved offshore.
That’s what I mentioned - MDs or other EDs. Agreed that on a team to team basis the politics and culture will vary. Also agree about the budgets.
DM me, I can vouch for a higher pay
You are close to making MD level $$ today. Why switch and take a pay cut?
Did not have a sense of the levels. So ED range is typically lower ? 350-450 ?
Can you please share what industry are you? It is definitely better TC than bank.
Work for a small quant fund. Getting tired of the pace and innovation. Looking at opportunities to learn and grow. Seems like MS might be more process oriented and slow based on the comments.
Thank you for sharing.
ED report to MD. ED is about the right level for you wrt YoE. VP report to ED .
