What's your job role at MSCI?
Will be working on msci index algorithms in MSCI and Transaction Reporting and regulations team in Morgan Stanley
Go for MSCI, better team, better location
Which department in MSCI?
Index Engineering department. Index Calculations team.
Index is main department of MSCI. Learning opportunities are there if you land into good project. If you are interested in cloud Techonologies most probably you gonna get it. Hike will be ~10%. I would recommend MSCI as Morgan Stanley’s work involves support and maintenance more than development. Pune is bit relaxing too. Personal opinion, your call
It's which department of Morgan Stanley
IST Division, Transaction Reporting team
I worked in the IST Division and the reporting team was under us, we were sending them data. They were very inflexible, we needed to add one attribute to an XML and it took us a month of meetings and an MD to step in for them to begin working. From the outside it looked like a boring project involving Perl scripts. That was 5 years ago so they probably moved to Java or Scala by now, but you probably know this better since you probably inquired about their tech stack. Morgan Stanley can be an amazing place to work but if you're in the wrong team it can be hell. If your wife is in Pune then go with MSCI.
If its index calc team , then go to morgan stan . Trust me i know , hehe
Having been worked in both, I like the over all culture of Morgan Stanley, they keep doing one or the other networking events, but work wise, some teams are good and some are okay, and in those okay teams work is not at all challenging. MSCI is a bit fast paced and have good people and good tech stack, the talent you see around is really good. But other than that, I think culture wise it's average. Also, the pay difference would automatically settle for cost of living for locations.. so that shouldn't be much a of factor.
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it🙂
Make it a poll! With insane cost of living in mumbai and your wife living in Pune, it would be the sensible option
