A recruiter from Accenture reached out with a senior manager position. Sounds interesting but not sure how much they pay and what the career path is after senior manager (assuming I stay on in consulting). Should I explore this option? I m looking to move out of FB but not sure where to go next. Has anyone moved from a FAANG to consulting (e.g., Accenture or MBB) before? If so how was your experience? And do I need to do case interviews for a senior manager role? Would appreciate any and all advice here. Thanks!
I would say if you are planning to move from FAANG to Accenture target leadership position and not senior manager. I would still suggest have a conversation and see how it goes. Once you get offer it is upto you to join them or use it as reference to crack other companies.
I doubt Accenture at Director will offer as much as a 5yo SWE in Facebook makes.
Lol - I did FAANG and then MBA + MBB. And then back in FAANG now. Trust me, you have it great - don't even fucking bother moving to consulting. Unless you are so passionate about kissing ass to some client who is fucking stupid and doesn't know shit.
Accenture is not even in league with mbb
Exactly most consulting gigs are managing stupid clients and what sales people sold Th.em
Stay away from all big 4 plus Accenture. Better to move in tech rather than losing time in so called consulting
I work at Google and was contacted for senior manager position at Accenture, to build out their digital strategy practice. After a few rounds of meet and greet I declined. My reasoning, only leave faang for MBB, all the rest is just not the same League. Started my career at Deloitte s&o consulting and if I go back to the industry I don't want to settle for less. It really depends on personal preference. Plus as mentioned above, if Accenture, big four or any of the other T2/t3, demand higher leadership position If you are up for it.
If you are an Engineer or PM - don't move to MBB. You will go from being a highly valued first class citizen to a second class citizen taking shit from consultants and keeping up with their demands. And trust me, almost everyone working at MBB is waiting to move to a FAANG (mostly as a PM if they can) at some point. And the truth is majority of them don't get into FAANGs as PM and will end up with some other operations/strategy kind of role.
The only people that want to move to tech are the ones that are looking for a comparable pay with good wlb. Mostly they are just interested in the wlb with no pay cut. But some of us actually want to stay at MBB. I have a clearer career path with great earning potential. Unlike common belief I am earning the same as people at FAANG with same YoE and live in a MCOL as opposed to SF. And I want to get in the c-suite by 40 which MBB gives me a lot better odds for.
Yea lets switch jobs
The FAANG equivalent in consulting is MBB (mckinsey, Bain bcg). Accenture, Deloitte, pwc, kpmg are not in the same league both comp and prestige wise.
This right here
Don’t do it.
if you are keen and master at playing politics and growing your career , then yes you can.
