Moving into a "top tech" without top tech on resume?

Hi all, currently looking to make my first career move. I am very early career, 1.5 YOE total, both in PMO (PM at a defunct company where I did no PM'ing, now a PC). I am no longer hyper interested in the PMO, my current company has taken that from me for now at least. I am interested in Product management, but my main goal is job security and WLB. I know this is not the vibe of blind, but I am not a grinder. I want to get into one of these top tech companies and stay. I have no plans to find the next unicorn and get a windfall. I want to be a productive and good employee, but not lose sleep over work. I currently work at I guess what could be considered a startup, but the name isn't on any maps or anything. It doesn't earn me any kudos on a resume. I am looking into EA positions or business admin as I know Product Management isn't typically an entry level option, plus I would like to just get myself into one of these companies and then see what other positions I can move into. Anyone have experience with this? I have one connection at Google who is also not a technical person, but she has previous mid tier tech company experience that helped her land it, so I just worry about the possibility of getting into these companies without a big name on my resume. If anyone is willing to provide a reference, I would love to chat for a bit and see if my experience aligns with some open positions in your company. I also would love to hear from people about any good companies to work for that may be lesser known. My main goals are a healthy salary, good WLB, decent benefits, and remote or hybrid work preferred. Would also appreciate stock compensation, but not something I wouldn't apply to a company over. A good base salary is more important to me. Current TC - 75k. #admin #executiveassistant #facilities #microsoft #meta #google

Just my personal opinion here, it is incredibly insulting that anybody thinks they can use administration as a steppingstone to get into something else. Vocational administrators are professionals. this is not to say that administrators don’t end up rolling into other positions at companies when those opportunities present. But rather this is to say that you seem to have a pretty low opinion of the profession of administration. You don’t even know what we do. Do you think we just schedule stuff on the calendar and book a couple of flights? And that anybody can do our job? I spend most of my day working with people who don’t know if they’re supposed to put their pants on BEFORE they put their shoes on. Administrators are a combination of executive thought partner, air traffic control, home office support, and a bunch of other things – we are basically the Swiss Army knife. Get a job in your own lane and bypass administration. Also by your own admission you are not a grinder. Administrators grind all day long, and they grind for the people they support. Just move on. Don’t take an administrative position and make us all look bad. We’ve got enough to deal with.

I have a different opinion. I'm sure you have transferable skills. Research that, identify them and figure out how to translate that to your resume. As far as steady consistent work? Try getting into public service, particularly local government. That sounds right down your alley.
