Moving to LA from SF...good decision or not?

I’m 24 & I’ve been living in SF for 2 years and I honestly just feel kind of over it. I’m naturally very social but I’ve never felt more isolated in my life, mainly because it’s just hard to get around in this city & I’m just out of energy by the time I’m done with work. Rent is so high. The dating scene doesn’t seem to be too great either. I’m also tired of constantly being harassed and cat-called. I work in tech but I don’t think I’m so passionate about it where I have to live in a tech-hub. I don’t think this is the best place for a woman to live. It’s a beautiful city and I’m grateful for my experience here so far, but I’m ready for a change. Has anyone relocated from SF to LA? What are the biggest differences?

Did you find a job already in LA?

Yes, I’m transferring with my current company because there’s a firm down there (my blind profile has my old company). The nice part is I get to keep my SF salary.

That’s awesome. Congrats. I think SF salary in LA will make you feel rich there

How about Seattle? It is far more welcoming to women than SF.

How ?

She said she wants a better social life and dating scene, not San Francisco 2.0.

Yes LA is one of the very few cities I’d live in. Enjoy reclaiming your sanity

LA is cool, the job market is just limited

Los Angeles is a great city. Dating scene will be more competitive if you are a woman, but overall quality of living should be much better. Great decision to get out of SF. The city is overrated.

I’ve never lived in LA but what I’ve heard from friends who have is that it’s great as long as you live close to work

As long as you have a job and live close to work or can handle traffic, you will love LA. Tech jobs are much harder to come by but everything else in LA is far superior.

Not sure how it’s hard to get around in SF that’s actually one of the major perks versus LA where everything is spread out and traffic sucks. You really can’t get around in LA, it’s like 5x worse than SF. That’s the main issue with LA though. Everything else is good, also people are much more diverse. You will find more artsy people, or just people doing different stuff. SF people fall into 2 categories 1 tech person or 2 homeless person

I moved to SF when I was 24 many many years ago. Other than having a great career, socially I felt the same way as you do now. Luckily I was already in a steady relationship and my significant other joined me a year later. I remembered traveling at 24 and thinking how much nicer/normal people outside the Bay Area. I would say go for it, if I were single then, I might have made the same decision.
