Moving to NYC. What are some decent, affordable neighborhoods for a 35 yr old male?
Budget: 2500~3000 Ideal unit: Studio or 1br Neighborhood: In Manhattan, but ideally in a less loud and ratchet neighborhood. Something like Nopa or Hayes Valley in SF. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed!

If OP is working near world trade center, then he could get a nice luxury apartment in jersey city for that budget and still have a ~20 minute commute

That’s a good budget, you definitely should be able to get a nice studio in a nice area. Hell’s Kitchen, Greenwich, ..

How about Hell's Kitchen? I see studio prices there are < 2500, but my friend said it is noisy and a bit sketchy.
UES and UWS. Midtown as well near 1st 2nd avenues. UES- Upper east side UWS- Upper west side
