My company is gone. Want to transition to dev from ops

Hey everyone, As you all have seen the news on SVB, being shuttered…. I’ve been working in the database infrastructure world where I’ve been automating processes using ansible, python and shell scripts. I like the idea of getting into the Dev world. It’s just tough for me because of my salary and I’m not sure many companies would take me… also lack of experience. I have “some” experience with python, but probably not nearly as much as a true developer. Now that I have some free time, I’ve been taking a course on coursera to get certified. “Back end developer” course by meta. https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/meta-back-end-developer If there’s any other certified courses that can help with my transition please let me know… so far I like it! #careerchange #coursera #meta TC 137k

Do tell. How long it took for that 2008 recession to recover?

Right now they’re saying 45 day employment for transition - how long did your transition work last?

Certificates are a waste of money no employer cares about certificates. When i hire someone if I see certificates on the resume I send it to the trash. Too me that’s someone who has zero experience but once to fast track their way to a job. My suggestion is get a job, lower paying potentially, in what you want to do then get some real experience.

Job market flooded with devs since every Tom dick and Mary learned to code in the past few years. Maybe a career transition is in order

I’m going through this one too. Well-organized. It’s the skills you learn that you can apply to your GitHub projects. And study and practice DSA on the side too
