Most of the tech companies I believe are going to recalibrate and stick to their core business. Ex .. hardware products don’t make money for MSFT, Google , FB and Amazon. Do they all need in-house chip design as well? Great consolidation will follow and legacy companies like Intel, Qualcomm and AMD will be back to normal. Google’s AI push .. whatever that means.. maybe smarter search , better targeted advertisements etc. Amazon doubles down on AWS. MSFT goes all in on Azure, Windows, gaming. FB .. well that’s a conundrum. Apple.. All in on HW/SW/Services TLDR: Be more aggressive and grow in their core strength and let go of non profit making experiments. TC: ~370
But thats never good enough for share holder’s..they want companies to disrupt something and earn the next trillion…is that gonna change?
Except FB will double down on the metaverse
Meta and Google got into hardware because they want to go vertical. Getting IPs from hardware companies don’t work for them for that reason.
I know vertical will always give you the tightest integration. But that seems only true if you throw gobs of money at it. Otherwise it seems like it would be better spent fixing firmware so power management actually works properly or working with other companies on semi custom chips. I can see the benefit for Apple because of the scale but I also wonder if Apple didn’t make a huge mistake given AMDs huge strides in mobile offerings. It’s very easy to make a stupid decision in hardware. We have seen Intel do it, AMD did it, even Nvidia with their near monopoly had some darker days.
That is the thing: Meta and google can afford to throw tones of money at it. Meta has to throw it because otherwise it’s impossible to bring Zuck’s Metaverse into reality. Differentiation is important to Google/Meta. Needless to mention they have strong software/firmware stack already built and in some cases, full potential might not be explored if they use semi-custom chips. Classic example is TPU. I don’t think Apple has made mistake given that IPhone has its own loyal customer base and no matter how much stride AMD makes, they can’t dent it.
Even Chinese phone makers want to make their own chips
The Chinese side is complicated because some of that is a push from the party for self sufficiency in silicon manufacturing AND design. They’re interested in self sufficiency and to an extent every company based there is beholden to the government to some extent.
Msft gonna go all in on chatgpt and superior search and destroy google bro
2/3 years big tech companies made so much profit, just after that, economic slowdown for just 6 months and they are firing like this... opened my eyes!
Thanks we have been waiting for you to post and for your guidance.
Thanks for waiting. I hope i did the needful.
