One of my friend working in BNY Mellon got piped last night. He is a fresher just graduated from college in 2022 with a Btech degree. He was hired for the role of software engineer but he has been given some testing/manual rules writing work. Still the manager is unhappy with his performance. I know he was working 12-14hrs in a day because his manager would give him so much work. He didn't got hike this year whereas all the freshers who joined BNY from his college this year got 30% hike but he got 0% hike. Now the manager is putting him on pip and gave him 3 months to prove himself. Please suggest what to do in this layoff market?
If it’s toxic, leave. No second guessing. Gather yourself and start preparing. It may take some time to land interviews, given the YOE… but eventually he will, so ask him not to be anxious and stay away from negativity.
Isin't it tough for him for search for job in this market with less than 1 year of experience
Can you please suggest what best can he do for himself
Thanku so much for this response
Prepare for switch.. 3 months is long enough to get some good preparation. Hopefully market will improve by then..
Should he do the work/courses given by his manager in this 3 months ? How can he avoide his manager
Just keep saying I'm trying to the manager. The path to exit is already decided. No point in putting effort in the wrong endeavor.
