Is this a strong offer? Currently Staff Eng in my company and concerned about IC4 being a downlevel. YOE: 7 Current TC: 200k #offer #swe #nvidia
Btw 200k tc for staff Eng is hilarious and that makes me question quality of work and company
Welcome to Canada 🇨🇦
IC4 @ 7YOE is great. CoL in Canada is high tho but you still in top 1% of Ontario with this TC
Thanks! What’s the usual YOE range for IC4?
I’d say 6 (if you’re really top 1%) - 12+ It’s a terminal level for many.
Very low
Strong offer? No. IC4 can get >350. Would I negotiate? Only if you think you can do better in this market. edit: I missed the 🇨🇦 aspect. Ignore me.
This is Canada. So this is a very strong offer
This isn't in the bay area so no, it's a good offer for ic4.
I’m a little confused why you’re down leveling from staff to L4. I get it if it’s just for money. You should be able to level up fast since you’re way overqualified for L4 work. Take the job if you need the money, but consider the career setback.
So Staff to IC4 is definitely a downlevel? What level would be more appropriate?
Comparable industry staff is IC5 for nVIDIA if I’m reading the levels right. If you’ve been staff for a while and really leading strong cross functional efforts, I would shoot for IC5. Maybe it’s one of those cases where it straddles two levels. And the average comp for IC4 is 350 for nVIDIA. So you are looking at a low ball offer anyways. Hopefully someone from the company can chime in to clarify it for sure.
Seems like a good offer for CAD
Who cares about downlevel, your TC is a major up level.
IC4 is equivalent to staff!
Congratulations! Are the numbers in CAD or USD?
Sorry, should have made it clear: CAD
Good stuff (for Canada), can get a lot higher in the US, if it's feasible for you to move here.
Toronto >> Santa Clara
Thanks! Family commitments keep me north of the border for now. Also not sure about the Bay Area.
