Currently at AWS, very happy, apart from stock in the toilet and have hit 2yr cliff. Was approached by HCL Tech for a potentially interesting role in Europe. As in title. Would you consider the jump if pay was attractive? I need healthy wlb, positive work environment. TC: $250 Yoe: 21
Resorting to Europe because you're unhappy with your current pay? đ§
I live here :-)
Similar to the WITCH comment someone else put out there, if you are local in Europe, youâll likely work with a large team based in India. That means youâll be working during the day doing your normal job then will have coordination and sync calls at night or in the morning. Consultants work A LOT and have to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Likewise, consulting companies are hugely dependent on your boss, more so than other companies Iâve seen. Will they go to bat for you? Will they tell you to shut up and color? Will they just phone home back in india for direction? Youâre top goal is to deliver profitably and make the client happy. Your opinion may or may not matter. That being said, if Europe is on your bucket list, theyâre willing to move you, the pay is good and youâre interested in the type of work, the WLB impact may still be worth it. If itâs a good time to move, try something new and see more of the world, could be worth the gamble!
Really good advice, thank you. I'm already based in Europe đ :-)
Sorry my American is showing ;)
Troll post
Go forward not backwards . Service companies will not be great if you have worked for a product company . Culture is key here
I work for hcl. But working at client site. I have good work life balance but get paid less when compared to clients. It all depends on the team. If you in amazon, I am sure you will feel relatively easy at Hcl
Stay away from WITCH's
