8 years into my career. TC 170k Title: Lead Devops Engineer. Graduated from a top 10 CS school in 2013. Job 1 - Ruby on Rails dev for 3.5 years. Got a lot of good exp for the first 1.5 years but the project was shut down and just coasted in a shitty project for 2 years until I got fired. Was a contractor making $55 an hour at the end. Failed and went to a Shitty grad school for an information systems degree for 1 year. Job 2 senior software engineer. Working on a Java forecasting algorithm for a well known non tech company. Worked for 2 years got some experience in java, spring boot, angular, docker, MySQL. TC 100k. I left after 2 years. Job 3 software engineer - mostly a data engineer doing azure. Got experience using java, azure functions, python spark azure data factory. Did alot of automation using gitlab. TC 135k. I left after 2 years. Job 4 lead devops engineer. I got hooked up. I had some automation experience in my previous job and I am learning more here. Mostly helping doing automation in azure for a C# shop. Teamcity, azure, bash, git, octopus. TC 170k. Why am I making this post? I am not happy at all with anything. I work a lot. I see crazy TCs poster here and other places. I feel like I get fucked at every company I go to. Shitty projects, lots of politics, very average experience. I think I fucked up by taking a shitty job out of a really good undergrad school and I have been average every since. I have no idea who to ask for help on how to improve or even how to make more money. I am in devops now. I am trying to learn as much as I can… wtf am I doing wrong. I want a better TC. How do I get better? What skills do I need in devops. I feel like my knowledge of networking is weak. I can do automation. I need to improve my cloud knowledge even though I have use certain services at every job. Where do I go from here? My friends are Millionaires and I am at a measly 170k.
I make less than you with more experience. There’s no better time than the present to start making a change but for your own sanity, done compare yourself to everyone on Blind. It’ll drive you crazy. But…go get that money :)
I just don’t know what to change.
What do you actually enjoy?
Leetcode and get interviews at FAANG, try your best, get offers and that's it, simple and hard at the same time. You already know what to do, just need to do it. Good luck, normal to doubt and not feel ready, part of the process.

Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
Leetcode and go for a mid level eng role at a big company. Avoid dev ops like the plague, it's more annoying than swe and pays a lot less
This is what everyone says. If I was still in undergrad 8 years ago I would have killed it at this leetcode stuff. Right now I am just burned out. I am working for a paycheck. I feel defeated.
It sucks ass but bear with it for 1-2 months. Do the blind 75 and some sys design and you should be able to snag a swe role somewhere
