Need help deciding: Anthem PCP or Kaiser HMO in Bay Area?
I need to get some physical therapy and see a MD for my low back - which one would you recommend? Does Kaiser offer good treatment and is it easy to get appointments? Anthem PCP has 250$ deductible. Intel Bay Area
My understanding is that Kaiser is phenomenal, never had it but they def dominate. Super tight integration though that’s for sure.
You work for BCBS? Is that a joke?
I don’t work for Anthem, blue nexus is complex, but we aren’t one company. Each company holds a geographical license to an operate in a specific market. I am a human first, after that I’m a nurse that knows a considerable amount about the industry, and Kaiser has an exceptional reputation. I’ve had Anthem coverage and it’s not bad, but it’s inferior to HCSC, which is the company I work for. HCSC has bcbs IL, TX, OK, NM, MT Anthem is WI, OH, NY*, CO, CA*, CT, GA, KY, ME, MO*, NV, VA, NH, IN Notice the difference. Also more complex then that note the asterisks and I could have made errors and there are pending acquisitions. So no, not a joke.
Kaiser is like Canadian healthcare. One stop shop, limited paperwork, but take what we give you. Anthem is tons of paperwork, but you have unlimited options lots of freedom of choice - perhaps a little overwhelming in both regards. I think the majority of people prefer Anthem or Anthem like over Kaiser.
Kaiser doesn't cover UCSF or Stanford, so if you need top specialists then you're screwed. Also what is this paper work you speak of?
Ksiser is the absolute worst. Avoid like the plague. Besides, you likely need a chiropractor to help you here and with any HMO you have hoops to go through to see a specialist.
