Need help with evaluating Uber offer
Got an initial offer from Uber for an L5a role. The first-year total comp is 477k (207k base + 35k target bonus + 235k 1st yr equity). I think I will ask for a sign-on bonus (none given), and ask for more equity. I also have a pending offer from Google for an L4 SWE role in Google Cloud SRE (outside of GCP), I don't have the numbers yet. However, I doubt Google could match Uber in terms of comp. But Google is more stable and safer, given the current economic situation. I don't need work sponsorship and I don't have any dependents, so I'm leaning toward the more high risk and high reward play and join Uber. Just want some advice on this. Thanks! You are young and don’t have any visa needs. Take Uber. It’s a step up in level as well.
