Just need to vent out my frustration. Had interview last week. Recruiter emailed on the day of the interview saying he wants to follow up, and scheduled a call 3 business days away. Weird and never had this before, but since I felt I did well, was expecting an offer. I get the call and he says response is positive but they are finishing up other interviews. He said there would be an update at the end of the week or Monday at the latest. He then went on to make sure whether I would accept the offer if it came through and did a sales pitch to talk up the company and how great it is. I'm now just anxious and frustrated that things are out of my hands, and why this guy had to wait 3 business days to just say that and leave me in a limbo. Anyone else had this sort of experience? In my experience once you get a call it was an offer or a reject.
Could you please share the role and the company?
Recruiters follow this tactic over and over again. They are like an Ad you are forced to watch. Your best response in this case is to calmly and politely say that you are working with other companies as well at the moment. They will ask you questions like “will you commit to signing once you get the offer “ . Don’t commit. I repeat - DO NOT COMMIT. Any information you reveal can and will be used against you to their advantage. This is the most important - Follow up any conversation with an email confirming what you both talked about. Say something like “Just to confirm I understood this correctly , yada yada yada”. This leaves a paper trail. ALL THE BEST.
Well good thing I responded in a neutral tone because I was like wtf
Recruiter is basting you before low balling you. Typical bad recruitment tactic. You will be so stressed by the delay that any offer will be acceptable to you.
Personal experience?
Have been in this industry for too long.
Please share company name name so that we all can avoid that. (Or dm me atleast)
There is nothing unusual about this. Company is looking for best possible candidate. That takes time. Meanwhile you keep looking for the best possible job.
They are waiting to hear back from other candidates who did better than you.
😞
Or they are still interviewing; at least you’re still in consideration
