Interested in joining a small startup with a great future, but the offer is lower than what I currently make. Higher title but lower compensation. I know that startups are more strapped for cash but I feel like I at least need to match my current comp to move. They offer equity, but I don’t put a lot of important in there as that part as a gamble. How do i negotiate this?
How big is the difference? What are the numbers?
About 15% lower
Tell them to make up the difference in immediately vesting equity of 2x the amount you are being reduced by.
yes this could work. However I was hoping for more cold hard cash.
curious about this. @Pwyu55 can you elaborate more? thanks!
Yes, It will make sense of you post the numbers. Which area are you taking about
This is in Product Management. I’d be about 15% lower than current salary. Ex. if I was at 200k TC then they are offering 170k.
What your current one? Around 180k?

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
That is the whole point of the startup. I took some cut too. See if your can survive without changing the life style and the potential of the startup. It is never apples to apples comparison
