After a round of negotiation, I received an L4 offer from Google Brain as follows: 155K base, 400K RSUs, 50K signing, for a total of 278K TC and 328K first year TC assuming 15% annual bonus. I'm told this is quite good, but I was wondering how to best proceed to bump it up to 300K excluding signing bonus. Any suggestions on what to ask for? How high can base salary go for L4? Current TC: 200K
Nice, do you mind sharing your profile? Phd in AI related domain?
PhD but not in AI related domain
PhD in which field? Do you think you can get competitive offers from hedge funds/HFT?
L4!?
I verified with the recruiter, it's indeed L4
Base is low but I guess 400k RSU will offset that
How much do you think I can bump up the base?
don't bump up the base. it will not go beyond 170 without a promotion. Go for stocks as much as possible. l4 base range is 135 to 170.
YOE?
2, but I have a PhD
What are you at MS? 61?
I feel LinkedIn senior is way better than G L4 in terms of comp. Sr at LinkedIn easily makes around 280-300k. As a new Sr at LinkedIn my base is ~180k with same stocks as yours.
I think senior is probably equivalent to L5 at Google, L4 should be SWE 2
LinkedIn senior is Google l4
That's a pretty good offer. Can you tell us your competing offers?
That's a pretty substantial boost to your current TC already. I don't think you can increase it to 300 unless you have competing offers that pay that much.
I have competing offers that pay roughly that much, the Google offer right now is slightly higher.
I feel sorry for myself when I see such high TC. Okay, time to work on my Leets. Congrats OP!
Well done
