Negotiating Higher Salary at Boeing with other offer?

I recently got an offer from another aerospace company at about 30% more than my base salary, and a significant equity amount. I think I want to stay at Boeing, but I believe I should be paid more as a high achiever / someone with a bright future at the company. I’ve fallen in the comp-ratio spectrum after they were adjusted and I was going to consider this as an argument. Has anyone ever negotiated a higher salary at Boeing using an external offer? Any recommendations? Thanks!

In puget sound as an engineer? You’ve seen the salary charts. No way Boeing can touch a 30% salary bump like that…maybe if you were stupidly underpaid in Mesa or St. Louis.

I wasn’t going to go with 30%. I was going to ask for 7-10% more which I think is fair. That still puts me over 10% off the high range. And yes, Puget Sound.

I would say go with the other company. If you even mention the offer then Boeing will try to snub you. They’ll see it as a sign of you looking to leave and are likely to make the first move by firing you. It’s always ill advised to use an offer to negotiate with your current company as it erodes the trust between the employer and employee

Yeah they aren’t going to find a way to fire you because that’s called retaliation. If you are a high performer they will counter at around 10% over the mid point for your salary range. Like other companies they are seeing a ton of people leave. If not, they won’t bother, so it might be worthwhile to see where you stand in their eyes?

Interested, since I am in similar situation. Although, I don't have an offer, I am interviewing for a position in in another company. Recently lost 3 teammates, all leaving for similar aero company in Puget Sound. So definitely employees have more power. However, knowing Boeing, they would rather spend money replacing me than give me that mystery, Out of sequence raise.

Yeah, Boeing is really shortsighted. They’d rather waste $100k training a new employee with no experience, than give a high functioning employee a 5k a year raise, which is only like $2.40 an hour lol.

I do know two people in the last year who brought external offers to management but approached it as I would like to stay with Boeing and I’m not looking for an exact match as this external company because I know Boeing can’t match it but is there something Boeing could offer that would meet in the middle….both employees received new compensation offers and accepted and stayed. I know one employee was able to get a match to their external offer and the other wasn’t able to get an exact match to their external offer but just below it and stayed.

That makes sense. I know Boeing wouldn’t be able to match, but I think $5-7k is fair for sure. My other offer is $30k more.
