Hi all, I just got a new grad offer from Microsoft for a TPM. I worked for them as an intern last summer but didn’t get a return offer due to head count so I went through the recruitment process again and got hired again. This is what they offered so far. I’m not really sure how to negotiate tbh. I’m currently interning at Google as an APM but I don’t know if I’m getting a FT return offer yet so I can’t use that to negotiate. and the only other FT offer I have is less than Microsofts. What should I counter with, if I counter at all. I have 3x internship experience if it makes any difference. Thanks! base: 118,400 sign on: 30,000 split in 2 years stock: 100,000 over 4 years 20% estimated bonus
yeah definitely make a sound of google but also make a sound of microsoft in google as well!
Alot of companies don't negotiate for new grads. You can maybe ask, but don't push...
1. Don't split the sign on bonus, ask for all of it year 1. No advantage for you to split except maybe some tax bracket benefits, but that will most likely be negligible. Having all your sign on year 1 gives you flexibility to leave after 1 year and you can invest that money yourself to make money. 2. The base seems not bad. From what I heard for intern to FT conversion during my time, there PMs weren't even touching 100k base or very low like 105k. 3. It doesn't hurt to ask for more, so might as well see where they might wiggle in the numbers.
Bonus is 10% not 20%. 20% is the maximum which doesn't happen 99.9% of the time.
Does Google typically give full-time return offers to APM interns?

Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
You can negotiate solely with your internship performance Just use points from your Connect and you can also mention “expecting an offer from Google” also
Thank you for your advice!
