Hello, I'm soon to get an offer from Amazon and I want to get a better idea of what aspects of the compensation package to negotiate. I believe the components of the offer will be: Base salary Stock (RSUs) Bonus Medical/dental/vision Does anyone know which of these would be easiest to negotiate (I hear the base salary bands are a little tight so I might not go too far there)? Edit: I live in Seattle WA and this is for L5 Biz Analyst with 2 YOE Current TOC: $157k #hrissues #negotiateoffer #salaries
Good luck with negotiations, open roles are headed for hiring freeze soon
Base is not negotiable most of the time, so you should negotiate bonus and RSUs. First 2 years are front loaded with the bonus, with minimal RSU vesting. Last 2 years you will have no bonus but a lot of RSUs.
Make it simple and negotiate a total compensation value. That will give the recruiter and HM more options. (I.e. don't be specific on the component modifications you want). What you want to achieve in reality is to land 55-65% compa ratio.
This is excellent thank you. May I ask what you mean by comp ratio?
A compa ratio of 0.5 or 50% means your total comp is at the median or 50th percentile when compared to everyone else at the same role, level and location.
