Update: I negotiated in GBP and thankfully was successful. I think you need to keep to what you value. As someone in the UK, the GBP value is what matters - that’s what it’s the bills —————— Hi Blind, I am planning on negotiating my SWE offer with Palantir. New TC is £115/$140 (I have a similar competing offer from a hedge fund which will be my leverage) I’m based in London so salaries are given in GBP £, however equity is given in USD $ When negotiating an offer, I have seen that it’s better to negotiate on your TC (or annualised TC) instead of asking for a specific increase in salary/bonus/equity. This gives the company flexibility in meeting your requirements. How should I present my request for higher TC? In £ or $. (I’d calculate this with the prevailing exchange rate on Google before I meet with my recruiter) My recruiter is in USA, as is every one of my interviewers. I’d also assume the comp team is based in USA, but I don’t know for sure. Ultimately the person I’m negotiating with is my recruiter, so is it better to keep it simple and keep discussion in USD? What are Blinder’s thoughts? #london #us #negotiation #negotiate #negotiateoffer #swe TC: £50k
Use freedom dollars. No one understands € or £
Is it a SWE role, or something else? How many years of experience do you have?
SWE, 1 YOE
My opinion is you should make the recruiters job as easy as possible (you want them on your side!). So go with whatever currency they want. But probably doesnt matter too much in the big picture.
Use gbp if the recruiter is hiring for a position in London they are probably assigned to that region and will what comparable offers are in that region
My partner is in infra interview loop. Any pointers OP? What was the onsite like? I'd glassdoor close to reality?
I did the dev loop, not infra so YMMV. I found On-site really interesting. Unlike any interview loop I’d done before. There was no leetcode style questions. And the interviewers were very collaborative
Mind if I DM?
If you talk with a recruiter in India do you also change the currency of your TC to Rupees? What kind of question is this
My offer has components in dollars as well as pounds, and it’s a US company. I _think_ the question stands
