Hearing from a few friends that Netflix is preparing for layoffs in certain areas. DM for referral. Netflix talent is top notch.
What’s Google/Consultant? Are you a contract recruiter using the scare tactics to poach talents from another company?
Google Cloud has a large solutions consulting org
People may leave with the stock drop as well ?
They don’t get stock comp. Only cash.
@jo jo -- people may leave as their merit/bonus gets reduced as result of management trying to trim down costs to help bolster company performance and declining revenue (from slowing subscription growth). Also because Engineers are paid so cash heavy NFLX might just start laying off staff so they can use resources for content creation (or other areas). NFLX already has a layoff culture.
Netflix folks never refer. I hope they now feel what referrals means for other ppl.
Doesn’t make sense to me. If they are failing after getting hired then interviewers should be at hook who finally assessed. If they are failing in the interviews then it’s not fair to assume that a referral would be liked by all interviewers to get hired. This is crap
They don’t refer randos because there’s no reward or bonus for a successful referral.
They should start by getting rid of whoever makes the decision to cancel every new show they start. It deters creators from wanting to take risks and work with them. What you get is a lot of formulaic blah shows with all the other talent going to the competitors.
Years of password sharing is finally starting to eat their lunch now.
Its a double edged sword though. Sharing creating cultural norms and boosts the popularity of content. Do you really think Netflix and Chill would be a thing if every college student had to pay for their own subscription instead of leaching from friends and parents?
Yeah I agree with you. It’s certainly a double edged sword. Now that people have cultivated this habit, I am not sure they are going to start paying for new subscriptions
They already run lean, why will they lay off
because decision makers pay (i.e. c-suite mgmt) lose their jobs if the company doesn't perform well and cutting costs is the easiest way to improve financials.
11k employees - If median TC is 500k letting go 2k saves 1B in operating costs. They must become profitable asap with growth phase over
11k employees…. Less than 2k engineers… And they’re already profitable. That’s not projected to change.
Can I also get a referral, was an ex Uber
Sure DM me
