@netflix Does anyone know why there still exist the auto preview option without the option to disable it? This is such an annoying feature and there are plenty of complaints about it. So why no one in Netflix care about it to change the feature? I’m positive it’s causing lots of people canceling their membership.
They don't have trailers. That pisses me off. I also want the IMDb ratings
It annoys some people. But guaranteed it actually drives viewership. They actually have the data, if it were harming the business of course they’d disable it.
If the feature were driving down engagement as much as you think, it would've been walked back by now. Obviously it's doing well enough such that Netflix is okay with some polarizing reactions.
Adding it might have shown overall positive engagement. That's how features get rolled out. That said everyone need not like it. Also i feel there should be a way to disable that feature.
Sometimes users don’t know what’s best for them
That’s why you should also work on auto cancel service feature .
Everyone likes to think their choices can’t possibly be manipulated by marketing. Data doesn’t lie though.
Same thing in my industry (tickets)
I generally muted my TV to avoid the distraction. Slowly getting used to it :(. I wonder if the auto preview makes a user flip more often there by driving up viewership.
You honestly think Netflix would push such a feature If it didn’t improve engagement and retention? This is why AB testing exists. Because your assumptions are wrong.
If you are so sure about it, they should make it an optional feature and just see how many people revert back to no auto preview! That’s the way to gain retention. By giving options to your users.
Because adding a knob to turn off something that specifically and measurably improves engagement by all metrics is stupid. Why doesn’t google add a knob to disable instant answers or autocomplete? Why doesn’t Apple have an off switch for every feature? Because it’s not only dumb and confusing and something nobody will really change, but it also leads to more complexity across all clients (thousands of them) and leads to Microsoft-ish pedestrian design. I frankly love the feature now. I don’t waste time reading the synopsis and watch the instant preview first.
Netflix is JUNK , I cancelled it because it thinks it know me better than me - haven’t found a single thing that I like from their useless recommendations- let me browse in a more rational way. Netflix is dying and we all know that
People said the same of MSFT 5 years ago. See where it is now. Peace 🖖
Yeah it’s DYING because the stuff it recommended YOU didn’t appeal to you. This is complete anecdotal nonsense. The recommendations are by and large solid, but even when they aren’t people aren’t getting triggered over it. Get a grip dude
I have stopped watching netflix because of this. It’s impossible to move your cursor or joystick without starting a new preview every 2 seconds. Terrible experience. I’m better off not watching as much TV anyways.
