Netflix Dream Team vs Amazon PIP

I got pipped from Amazon and still have PTSD from it and trash mental health. I took the severance. My friend referred me to Netflix, and I was reading about dream team. How bad is it? From the surface, it feels like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. TC - 0 (unemployed) YoE - 6

If you don’t have an offer yet it’s probably just like jumping from a frying pan to a black hole

Well I'm already in a black hole

Lol get an offer first bud.

Don't want to make the same mistake again

At least we don't PIP. If you are not good, you are just fired right away with 4 months severance

Microsoft Rigorous Apr 28, 2023

How much output does netflix need to decide who is good?

Netflix VestRest Apr 28, 2023

Hard to say. You are expected to keep up with your team after the ramp up

Amazon amzntezclo Apr 28, 2023

Amazon doesn't deserve you. Any other company is probably better at this point

Also curious about this 👀

Netflix dream team concept has no target %s for layoffs, no bureaucracy or games around trying to "recover" from a PIP. We just don't PIP. We have transparent feedback: if your manager thinks you aren't performing to a sufficient level, they will clearly communicate this with you to give you a chance to correct it. If they view you haven't, or can't, correct it, they will just fire you and you will get 4 months of severance.

I think this is how adults should behave. Other companies can learn a thing or two.

We have enough ex-Amazonians ruining things for us. Please look elsewhere.

Get off your high horse. Amazon is a huge company, and people are not one faceless mass.

Netflix culture is simple… you’re out if you are not cut out for the job. And it’s no different in other companies. We’re just transparent about it
