Anyone here at Netflix come directly from Spotify? Would seem to me the cultures would be very different. I’ve been at Spotify for about a year but recently saw a role similar to mine at Netflix and know the hiring manager and hiring manager’s boss. I would imagine far more compensation upside at Netflix but far less job security. #entertainment #media #netflix #spotify
What’s your Spotify location ?

I loved working at Netflix. If ur a strong performer, no need to worry. Their severance is 4 mo for under director level so even if you do get fired, yeah it hurts your ego, but you will get over it and get a job quickly
Why did you leave?
Netflix is great except for lack of manager training/investment (no need for people to be good managers) and lack of oppty to transfer to other roles I had a dumb insecure manager and was too young and i wasn’t good at hiding my opinion of her. She fired many smart people on her team who are now doing extremely well. After she fired me, she and her manager got fired shortly after. She’s now an IC at google actually, lower level than me and I have a team at FB and thriving. Anyway I still miss Netflix for the talent density and pay, and would go back. Now that I’m more mature, I think I can navigate much better.
@op: I know two of our colleagues who went there and love it. And got rich while we have the 🥜
Is TC really 🥜? It seemed somewhat competitive, though on the “lower” end according to levels.fyi
Go to netflix. I use spotify daily and like the product but you’re likely not getting paid anything close to Netflix comp. having netflix on your resume will open another level of doors in your career. Spotify doesn’t have the same prestige or reputation for high performing talent.
what do you mean by “know”?
Interviewed with hiring manager in the past 18 months for similar role as one that is now available. Have kept in touch in last year, and actually set up a check-in chat in the next few weeks before knowing there was a job open. Have know hiring manager’s boss for over 3 years and had on and off conversations about their team.
It means op can push his resume through ;)
