It would be interested to see the metrics but: 1. Do you think Netflix lost any users due to the Dave Chapelle show? 2. Do you think Netflix gained more users OR had more views this last month because of the show? 3. How easy/hard do you think it would be for Netflix to replace workers that are against the show and would there be any “significant” backlash ? (e.g. user churn, stock depreciation, etc.)
No, Yes, easy - very easy
Activists are a net negative. Nobody who does that shit was ever very productive or effective. More likely they spend all their time reporting people to hr and documenting micro aggressions.
Apple gets it
They lost one. Me.
1. The probably did lose some subscribers over it… but certainly a negligible amount like hundreds or single digit thousands. 2. Again, slightly more views but not an amount that matters. 3. Easy to replace - it’s trendy to create workplace problems right now, but in a few years none of the people walking out will be considered by serious tech companies because they will have bad marks on their HR records (they aren’t supposed to share that kind of data, but we know people talk)
1. No 2. Yes 3. Easy to replace. No backlash.
