Greetings. I’ve been applying for new grad roles since August and have gotten no callbacks/interviews. I’ve heavily revised this recently and am experimenting with an extracurricular section. Please let me know what I can improve on! #resume #resumereview #cisco #visa
The question you should be asking yourself is does it really matter
Do you do anything but code? Sheesh no other extracurriculars?
Good job highlighting keywords in your experience. Highly recommend generating a color scheme and adding it to your resume, it will make it feel less dense to a reader and help you stand out against the pile of other resumes that are just black and white walls of text
Hmm that’s a good suggestion. I’ll definitely try some color schemes to see how they look!
Do not graduate until you have a job offer. It's easier to get new grad job than getting job with little experience.
“an” in house not “a” Honestly a solid resume for a new grad. Referrals are very important in any well-known company lately. Search linkedin for job postings people are sharing. Sometimes if you send the person your resume for a relevant job they may be willing to refer (not the hiring manager) Networking is important for you so check out young professionals networks/clubs, sports leagues, volunteering, etc. Whatever makes sense in your area. If you know anyone personally in tech, reach out and ask them to get a coffee or do a zoom to see if you can ask them for things they wish they knew when they were getting started. They may be able to help facilitate recs as well. Good luck 👍🏻
Include more projects .. no need to stress on extra curricular activities .. one or two would be sufficient for that..
Love this resume but it appears dense. Nothing wrong with a 2-page resume with more white space. With extra room you can put a profile section at the top or a highlights section at the top. This allows you to bottom-line what you are looking for in a role or what your main relevant qualifications are. Agree to adding some color, agree to moving education below experience. Also, cut words wherever you can.
DM for SAP and anyone else for a referral!
I know you're a new grad, but move your edu section to after experience, before extracurriculars. Skills first. Love how you organized them. Usually I roast resumes hard but yours looks nice. Remove the spaces around the en dashes, though. Remove the bolding of keywords, also. That just comes across weird.
I see, thank you for the feedback!
Don't listen to any of these comments. The one below by Amazon DSEE56 is exactly the one you need to follow. You're a new grad, so your education should be higher than your experiences. And a bit of color scheme, but don't make it too colorful. An eye-catching resume would not have more than 3 to 5 colors in total. Bolding of keywords is fine as long as you don't bold every tool you used in your experience.
