Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Hi! Was offered a Game Product Manager position at EA in Austin, and looking to see if the offer is fair/appropriate: $38/hour rate $22k RSUs $5k relocation <1 yoe (new grad position, 9 months of internship experience) Thinking of negotiating for a sign on bonus, higher hourly rate + switch to salary, and increase in RSUs by comparing to another offer, but would appreciate any thoughts! EDIT: they came back with: $43/hour $25k RSU added a $5k sign-on any thoughts on an appropriate val to come back with? i'm hoping to at least hit $50/hour and $10-15k sign on - is this reasonable? #gaming #pm #product #productmanager #entrylevel
I do know that EA has typically put game engineers on hourly comp, as an incentive to not crunch/overwork them, because then they have to be paid overtime beyond 40 hr/wk
Only SE1 and only in US
damn, with this kind of pay no wonder why their recent games all suck
That pay is too low. EA has history to hire low and bad with negotiation
so i've heard unfortunately :( they did come back with a counter (update in the OP) but it feels like im still being lowballed. not sure how much to push with negotiating...
I'm guessing this is a new-ish job title, as I have never heard of this role. Either that or it's a mobile org thing.
it is for EA Mobile, and from my understanding is a new role akin to other APM programs that are popping up. any suggestions on the negotiating process/ideas on what similar roles have previously offered? it's been pretty hard to find historical data/market value for the company/gaming in general
Unfortunately I don't know enough about this role. If it's similar to the associate Dev Mgr on the HD games side, then I don't think pay is going to be that great.
Hey, I'm a new grad associate PM (level 18) in SoCal making 44/hour with 22k RSU/3 years. Do you know what level you're being brought in at? (I was also an intern with EA for 9 months). I had a friend who joined with ~4 years of non PM experience in Austin and she was brought in at around 120k TC IIRC, so I think your offer is close to the top assuming you're also level 18. (She was also a technical PM so she'd be making about 10% more)
hi, thanks so much for sharing! i'm not sure what level i'll be brought in at, but assuming it should be similar. i appreciate the context, i also think it seems like it's at the highest they'll offer. will have to see what they say next.
What level is your friends role? Currently in the prod circuit myself
Entry level PM in games is tough. If you’re good, there are a lot of opportunities for roles 1-2 levels above what you’re being hired in at. If you want to work in games, might make sense to take the role and then network internally. If you don’t see fast promotion on your team you can apply to other teams.
Doubt you’ll get to $50, that’s a Grade 21 rate, which isn’t hourly
Grade 20*
PM here. I also came in at hourly, it sucks. Even if you're okay with the pay the big thing is you're not eligible for annual bonus
That hourly rate is WAYYY too low. And why is it hourly?
A lot of companies put their lowest level employees on hourly. Not fully sure why, but I know that Meta does this for IC2
