What is the new grad market rate for working as a quant developer and a quant researcher in a small hedge fund? Have ivy league PhD in Physics and production coding experience. Company in the East coast.
@qFiT what’s the diff between F1 drivers and racing car designers? You need to know how to survive in the battle field. A quant is still on technical side, he/she spends most of time being trained and trying out ideas. If you can come up w/ a profitable strategy in the first year, you shouldn’t be working for anybody but yourself.
New grad PhD in physics from an Ivy? You're set up to do very well. Target $500k for entry level research scientist/quant researcher roles. RenTech will still be a stretch but every other major quant trading firm in the NYC area will likely give you an interview at least. I can give more targeted suggestions over DM if you'd like.
How’s the base/bonus split? From my understanding, there is no equity comp
Quant dev at a top place will be $150 - 200k base, up to $200k sign on (more likely $100k) and typically a first year bonus of $100 - 200k. For new grad PhDs on the research/strategy team, increase all those numbers by $50 - 100k. Especially the bonus, which may scale even higher with competing offers.
