New grad Google SWE offer
A friend of mine is expecting a new grad SWE offer from Google this week. He has an existing offer from Amazon. I’m looking for input on what he can expect and how negotiable the offer might be. Existing Amazon offer (Seattle) 129k base 112k equity (vesting 5/15/40/40) 50k 1st year bonus, 33k 2nd year My range estimate for Google (Seattle): 130-140k base (+ annual bonus) 115-150k stock 20k-50k hire bonus Is this a realistic range? Are new grad offers for Google typically negotiable?

Damn new grad salaries are up. In 2021 the base was 116k with <90k equity and ~30k year 1, 23k year 2 signing bonus
New grads are way overpaid. Crazy that they think they can negotiate 170k+ offers without having any real experience
Hiring bonus seems (way) high but haven’t been in the game in 6 years

Yes, undergrad. May be worth pointing out that the Amazon offer is a return offer from his internship (summer of 2022, was supposed to start at Amazon right after graduating but Amazon pushed all their new grad offers out by six months).
