How does Nikes new grad offer look like for software engineers? Would Nike be stable during recession compared to banks or insurance companies?
I think this is fairly accurate: https://www.levels.fyi/companies/nike/salaries/software-engineer/levels/swe-i
Company is fairly stable. Revenue is primarily derived from athletic footwear (which has a surprisingly high barrier to market), and the second biggest player isn’t even close to our market share. There’s a reason under armor, puma, & adidas only talk in growth percentages. FTE are rarely let go, contractors are primarily used to modulate headcount in response to wall street. Some areas of the company are old school, others are quite modern. The closer you get to SAP the more process there is around releases. Teams close to the front end are allowed to fully manage their canary deployments to prod.
I wouldn’t worry about getting laid off, but I might worry about the team dynamic of wherever I get moved if my original position is no longer needed.
