Hi everyone, I really need some guidance. I just left my last company I was at for nearly 4 years (FedEx) for a new company and to say my new boss is a control freak would be an understatement. He attacks everyone (his peers, other colleagues, customers) he has trust issues but he's so high up and senior he ain't going anywhere since he's boys with the CEO/founder. He literally has (only for me) a one on one EVERYDAY where I'll come in with like 10 things or well updates (I did amazing on) but if there's one small item that was done only 90% well he will ATTACK my ass for the remaining 30 minutes of the one on one even if its super fucking small, low priority, and a deadline way off in the future. I'm not trying to sound like a snow flake here or not have thick skin but I've only been here 3 months as of April 1st and this is already hell on earth. I started reaching out to old recruiters for new roles but I'd really hate to leave since I love the actual job, it's growth, and nearly everyone else is awesome!
Move out as soon as possible.
First. Running is fine. But winning teaches you more. Do a quick study on build rapport. Use tony robbins. Then learn what he is great at and start to appreciate it. Everyone hates this guy and he needs people badly so if you can win him that is best for both but it takes skill.
You should never quit as in "give up on yourself." Don't stop practicing piano at the first roadblock if you enjoy it and have talent. If a situation is genuinely bad, though, then quitting is an excellent decision. Quit early and quit often. An abusive boss is definitely the second scenario.
That's always my goal, better to make friends then enemy's so as self demoralizing as it sounds due to his benevolent nature I'd still like the idea of winning him over 🤮
I know you don't want to quit, but realistically your two options are: 1) quit now on your own terms or 2) get fired or managed out 6 - 12 months later after a lot of abuse. This never ends well. It doesn't matter if you like everything else about the job. Your manager is the most important part. I've been there before. Sometimes people just don't like you or are threatened by you and there's nothing you can do about it. Go now.
Fuuuck. Yea..I kno 😔
leave asap. without notice
Only reason I wouldn't do that is I like the guy who I'm taking his responsibilities from since he's moving to a new team in the company and he would get bogged down with it if I did and he doesn't deserve that, he's to good of a dude (yes not my problem but at the same time I just can't do that to him)
just leave dude
Leave and don't turn back
He will attack/pounding your ass!! man told him to use protection!!!
Didn't even buy my dinner first
What role are you in?
Product Manager
Sound like familiar to me. Leave ASAP.
WTH are you doing my man. Get literally any other job and give him a massive FU before leaving. If he knows high up people this situation is only going to get worse for you. Drop a note to CEO before you go and copy HR telling them to eat a bag of D’s for hiring such a clown. This doesn’t sound like a job but more of a deliberate abuse by someone who sounds very very deranged. Anybody who tells you any different here can also eat a bag of D’s. Actually if you don’t have severe financial issues or visa issues you should leave today. I say this in all seriousness- FUCK your manager.
I Appricate it, yea I need to line something before I go since I just signed a new lease and bought a car not to long ago. But yea I sadly agree this is the way its mostly likely goin go
