I'm currently working at Discover with a total compensation of $155k. I've recently received an offer from Snapchat, and I'm torn between the two opportunities. Discover: - Total Compensation: $155k Snapchat: L3 - Base Salary: $148k - Stock: $40k - Bonus: $15k Total Compensation: $203k Yoe: 2 Snap advantages: ----Stock all time low Disadvantage: ----Uncertain future of Snap, layoffs, wlb I'd appreciate any insights or advice from the community on factors like work culture, growth opportunities, and overall career trajectory. Has anyone made a similar decision, and what factors influenced your choice? Your guidance will be immensely helpful in making this important decision. Thanks in advance! @amazon #amazon #faang #tech #snap #google
How did you get an offer from them? Didn’t they just do a massive 10% layoff?
And being replaced by young, cheap labor and hence this offer
Your snap L3 offer is a typical NG offer (although you’re offered less equity but higher base). With 2 YEO you could maybe negotiate more equity. What bonus are you being offered? We just restricted the bonus system, not guaranteed the way some companies do it, but can pay off handsomely.
Snap is going to 0 and will probably have even more layoffs this year. Shit just crashed 40% lol. Proceed at your own risk
Join Snap. Even if the stock keeps going down, it’s a much better name to have on your resume than Discover
There is no more Bonus ! Stock option changed
Consider how much job security is important to you before accepting the Snap offer. Best of luck!
I think it depends on your goals tbh. We used to have a much better WLB at Snap. Now they expect everyone in office 4 days a week minimum, no exceptions. No Remote. No WFH. I think you should negotiate your cash a little more. But you’re so young that I actually think you would grow a lot while at Snap. Layoffs are a risk anywhere, but they laid off people who were primarily remote, regardless of performance. If you’re okay moving to a major office on either coast, and being in office like pre-covid, then definitely go w Snap.
I know one guy who is fully remote at Snap
No more remote in the coming months.
Join Snap, if it sucks just leave in a year with more prestige on your resume.
Keep interviewing for an actually legitimate company. Idk why you bothered to interview Snap in first place. Snap isnt a resume booster fyi
There are many ppl in snap from google, and we rejected more.
EY is the prime example of a failed leader at google and you guys took him in as a SVP 😂 That is enough to know about the bar of Snap. Didnt you guys also accept 5 yoe engineer as L7 from CVS? 😂 id be ashamed to work at snap with incompetent tech leaders
