Quitting this Slave life
#F5Networks opened up two new offshore sites - F5 India and Guadalajara. Huge investments are happening for F5 India for shifting resources to low-cost countries. Does it lead to layoffs? It looks like there are going to be competing teams of the same org in India and Americas AND Guadalajara and Americas.
You all are screwed.
Um. Yeah.
I have worked for a long time in India (in one such offshore center) and also for a long time in US. Such centers only get left over work. So US employees keep the best work here in US and mundane work gets sent to these centers. If you are someone who does mundane work in US then yes you are at risk. But I believe that is a result of your passive attitude towards work rather than the offshore center. Even in FANG offshore centers the work is not at par with US offices.
Thanks for this. Answers the question precisely. And yeah, some of the teams coming up in India and Mexico are told to have their own projects, but, I think it's more about moving projects from here to there. Which mainly includes IT, Ops, DevOps, Support, and Test. I'm not sure if these jobs are mundane, but they're the ones moving to Mexico and India.
So you will get to do machine learning and self driving cars while those guys do dev ops, support and test. I donβt see anything risky here unless you provision VMs for a living.
obviously
Yeah. Looks like this was a no brainer. Dumb me.
That's an iterative process. Corp will shift work load to offshore gradually and measure productivity/ ROI. If all goes well, they will transition everithing, if not, may roll back transaction. I would start looking around tomorrow.
Is the India center just GS like Guadalajara is? From GS Iβm a lot more worried about Guadalajara since thereβs a Thing (no idea if f5 is doing it) of hiring American-raised deportees because they speak with an American accent and are cheaper.
Ah! India will be pretty much everything. They had a sales office before, now both Product Development and IT are moving. GS and other departments like Maketing might have their presence too.
Guess you got your answer πππ
Tweet Trump.. he can stop this and save American job
