Nike Office Opening

Asking for a friend who is a new grad joining Nike: When is the Nike office opening / what is their WFH policy for new hires? They apparently haven’t told the new grad hires anything…

never

Started a pilot program, considering 100% remote for Tech teams. Not finalized yet.

I wish I could. 😄

FTEs are expected to be in office Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Remote Monday / Friday. Last I heard we’ll be back in office Mid- Sept. This could be changing with delta variant

This is now outdated. No return date is set and definitely not before November.

Nike TUtS76 Aug 21, 2021

Correct. JD just sent a note on the 18th. Not returning to office in September or October. My best guess is January

Apparently more than a year of working remote during covid time was not enough pilot so they're starting the "real" pilot program. REI had finished a beautiful building and never moved into them when covid broke. Instead they sold the building and turned everyone to work remote.

Leadership expectations will be 3 days a week. Not sure how they will enforce it though, so I think it will depend on your team as to what’s expected in reality

Any updates on this? In a final round for a role with Nike and they had said Jan tentatively, wondering if there are any internal updates/opinions on whether that will actually happen? Especially with relocation...they said they have hundreds of people backlogged to relocate

Which role? There's a global tech all hands this Friday which might give an update on RTO, but it's mostly talking heads getting paid ridiculous $$, skirting around what is really top of mind for the employees and their families. You have a chance to negotiate WFH if you're in tech. So much attrition the past 10 months (including me) and many roles outsourced will give you leverage. Make sure whatever you negotiate for TC and relo package is worth the move. Part of the "org activation/evolution/org-reorg-reorg helped some increase base pay but that was just to get them to the left edge of the bell curve in most cases. Nike is not a tech company, and they won't pay like one. Don't expect any stock unless you're interviewing for expert/principal/director and above. Part of the reason they want you to relocate is to help them save money on taxes (we've been collaborating just fine for the last 19 months and exceeding quarterly results) . If people don't return to work, or large population are WFH, it doesn't boost the local economy. Plus they need to pay for the Lebron and Serena building - (the tallest building now in Oregon. ) Finally, their relo company is going to be backed up, people are still hesitant to RTO, proof of vaccination is now required, and the market is extremely competitive. Just some points to consider. Above all, if it's a role you're passionate about, better TC, enjoy nature, provides more opportunity than your current role, I hope it works out for you. I learned alot and met some great people. Also, if you join now, it could be a few more months or more WFH. Try it out and if it sucks, find something else and you may not even need to move. Good luck!
