I'm currently in the process of interviewing for a PM (product manager) position at a late stage startup. I have been slotted for a PM role after a discussion and review of my resume despite not having a PM focused background. I'm aware PM can mean a very different thing between Google and other companies, which I'm hoping to suss out more during the process. I am wondering if anyone has good resources to recommend for preparation. My background is SRE/incident response/TPgM so I don't have a formal PM background. I have spent time doing the usual company research that I'd do for any job so I have an idea about their offerings and market differentiators. Things I am aware of ... - Cracking the PM Interview: read it - Exponent: Watched the free content and the verdict seems to be the paid content doesn't offer that much more. - Decode and Conquer (book) - PM Diego Granados (YT): I've found his content to be solid. - Solid post: https://www.teamblind.com/post/PM-Interview-Prep-Plan-How-I-got-PM-offers-from-Google-Expedia-Microsoft-and-Facebook-pj56HMHQ I know to spend most of my time on product design questions since I don't have a background in those but looking for any tips someone might be able to provide from a similar career arc or moving from FANG --> startup #productmanager #tpm
I come from a similar background, if I may ask what type of PM is this for? Consumer, platform, etc?
It's for a developer platform. I'm not sure if it's internally focused or requires interacting with external customers as well. Hoping to learn more during the interview process.

Is it this bad at every big tech company?
Those are all solid resources. Many of those focus on design specific interviews. Behavioral interviews are a big component in a lot of how companies are doing their hiring. InterviewAt.com (also has a YT channel with mock interviews) is run by an exfang senior executive. Lots of good information there.
Awesome! Thanks for providing more content for me to check out.
