I am a Data Analyst /Data manager.I know SAS ,SQL ,python and Tableau . In all my positions (I’m a contractor ,worked for four different health care /Insurance companies ) have been doing same kind of work ,no extra responsibilities or involved in report writing as I don’t have health care degree .Other domains reject me for having so much health care experience . Not sure how to break the wall ,not even sure if I wanted to break that wall . I wanted to look for opportunities in health care tech or health care start ups . Yoe :7 years TC :120k #tech #dataanalyst #career #dataanalytics #healthcaredataworks
I have applied for Accenture once and they scheduled interview at 7 pm est .On call the interviewer kept mentioning that he don’t know any project details and asked me couple of text book questions .The call ended in 10 mins .Later the recruiter ghosted me .
This is very frustrating wanting to help people live safer and improve their health and wellness. Even if you don't have a degree you can break out.
Hey, I have been in the same boat. Most of my experience was in Insurance/ Healthcare and I was able to get into FinTech and now moving into Real Estate. My technical profile is also very similar to yours ( BI/Data Engineering). I dont think having a lot of healthcare experience is a bad thing. You should use it to your advantage. Msg me if you want to know more..
Cant you share your experience without having to message you ?
Get an FTE gig. I had zero career progression for 5+ years as a contractor. Once I became full time employee progression happened instantly. If you’re a contractor making less than $100/hr the company treats you like literal trash, that was my experience.
I was in process of converting my contract role to FTE then pandemic happened so layoffs .My direct report has been laid off and they dint extend my contract .This year I am applying /applied for FTE ,no response yet .For contract positions ,there are lot of implementation partners so pay rate is 🥜
I also don’t have a healthcare degree. I don’t even technically know SQL but instead a derivative of it. But my whole career (also 7 years) has been in the healthcare field and have just learned on the job. I think you have the right idea with healthcare startups. If you PM me, I’ll give you one to look into who is currently hiring.
PM me to talk. I know of a hospital job that might be opening if your ok with the West Coast.. I've worked in two medical centers and now with for a small startup but I know the feeling you have, many recruiters only want someone who already had the exact experience. Happy to give some guidance if I can.
Pretty sure people at Google and facebook make $300-400K as data managets
