E5 infra Menlo Park After the verbal offer, recruiter quoted me these numbers today: 208k base 575k RSUs No sign on bonus They mentioned sign on bonus is only included when you need to pay back the signing bonus for leaving your ex-company to join Meta or something similar. Is this true? Do I have room to negotiate here? Current TC: 0 unemployed
Damn lol
I was also told by the Meta recruiter they don’t do sign-on bonuses and I should consider the RSUs my bonus. Declined the offer.
In my case, they added it to match my current offer.
Is the equity in your offer per year?
lol yea, 575k per year would be wild for E5.
It’s over 4 years
Sounds like you have very little leverage and them understanding that
If your recruiter knows you're unemployed, you're going to need another offer to negotiate. I can't speak for the packages now but I got a signing bonus coming in at level 4.
How many yoe did you have ?
They’re lying. Are you software or hardware. I have a very similar package as yours for L5 at Google in hardware infra. Google had told me that they never do sign on bonuses above 20k. I was asking for 50 and have seen ppl get that. Anyway they gave me 20k bonus with 190k salary. So I was like take the bonus away and gimmie more salary. So they gave me 200k salary and no bonus. Then I was like man this some BS and i waited a few days and called the recruiter and told her look I’ve gotten some other offers and they are much better than I thought they would be. I’ve gotten a bit more TC than you and I need you to sweeten the pot. I told her I had until 5pm to decide and if they couldn’t up the offer then I’ll have to take the other one. So at 5pm they came back and added a 20k bonus. Anyway long story short, wait a few days tell them you’ve gotten an offer with a good sign on bonus and tell em to match. Put some urgency on them by saying I’ve got X days to decide. But only do this if you’ve told them you’re interviewing. If you’re software then I think this is a bad offer. SWE get much more than hardware engineers.
Valuable insight, thanks. I'm software. I do have another offer but it's for a Series A, not as lucrative but I'm for sure going to negotiate.
Great insight!
I have verbal offers from Apple and meta. I used apples 40k sign on to force meta to come back with a sign on. I am also in a position where I am happily employed at workday so can decline both offers so I don’t care if they revoke so I’m being extremely risky. Just my random anecdotal experience
this it's all about your leverage and whether or not you're willing to walk away
wow, rejected apple and meta for workday. Balls of steel!
Total BS. Your recruiter is offering you the bottom of the range. I recently got hired as E5 also To negotiate you need a counter offer. Without one, you have to be willing to walk away and lose the offer.
What was your offer
220 base 200 stock (annual) 90k sign on Seattle location. So menlo park should be even higher.
They are bullshitting you.
