I’m a non CS front end engineer with a long history of experience, but a pretty poor grasp on algorithms. Any suggestions to prep for the interview? I’m a get ‘er done kind of person and do good work, but I’m finding most interviews to be especially neglectful of actual experience these days.
PS thanks for the advice. Trying really hard here. I feel like Frontend Engineering shouldn’t have the same standards as backend.
They don’t.
At google you still have to pass the same interview questions
Companies pay just as much for front end as backend, they should expect the same standard. And in most consumer products frontend is more important than backend.
I agree with you. I just feel like most frontend engineers have learned things possibly a different way than a classically trained full stack or backend engineer. Anyway, just trying to fill the gaps. I’m ready to put in the work that’s necessary.
I am not sure try talking to someone who is a front end developer at Netflix. In general the book here is the best https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1479274836/makithecompsi-20/ref=as_at?creativeASIN=1479274836&linkCode=w61&imprToken=nhssucSKJb6Bs7coD9XcxA&slotNum=0
Thanks much. Buying this now.
At Netflix focus on domain knowledge and being able to articulate your experience well.
Wait 5 years
Why? cause it’s gonna get worse and worse? haha
Unfortunately that's how it is, the more experienced you are, the more they expect from you in an interview. So you hit leetcode hard, take practice interviews and if Netflix is your goal, take up their interview after attending other companies you are not keen on joining. Good luck!
Leet code is the best? Any other suggestions for resources?
